Awombness: Getting My House in Order

There’s a certain freedom that comes with achieving one’s dream. A sense of peace and calm. Just to know what your purpose is on life and to fulfil it. “The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” ~Pablo Picasso

And that is precisely what I’m doing right now. Living towards that sole purpose. Because God has rewarded me richly, in ways I do not deserve. And for that I remain eternally grateful. For He gave me the ultimate gift: Insight into my life’s direction.

I was 9 years old when I knew I was going to be a journalist. Assuredly. Not a doubt in my mind. Many tried to stop me along the way. Aptitude tests pegged me as a nurse or social worker. Imagine! It’s the apartheid mindset.

My dreams have always frightened my family. Bless them. I’ve given them many a scare. But I remain steadfast to my cause. To tell people’s stories or at least to help them tell their own. The work is richly rewarding. And for that I remain grateful. Awombness: Getting My House in Order. Dala what you must.
