Awombness: I’m Doing Fine Now

The Pasadenas

Freedom. It’s so sweet. Freedom from tyranny. Free at last! Free at last! Thank God almighty I’m free at last. What am I on about exactly, I hear you whisper. In January I wrote the following blog article.

This and other blogs landed me in trouble with His Master’s Voice, otherwise known as the SABC. And then there were plenty of shenanigans, but I’ve come out on top. I’m finding so much joy in the work I’m doing right now.

Podcasting is deeply rewarding. And that’s universal, across all of my current hosts. I remain grateful to the public broadcaster for helping to mould me into the journalist that I am today. Notwithstanding all of the kaka’s of the past two years, I enjoyed working there.

But I do believe we are beating a dying horse. The SABC has had it’s time. Public broadcasting is shifting and podcasts are the new direction. So my leaving the SABC is almost a natural progression. I remain committed to the mandate to inform. It is why I became a journalist in the first place. Awombness: I’m Doing Fine Now
