Predictions by UNC soccer vs. Georgia Tech staff

The North Carolina Tar Heels are looking to extend their winning streak when they host Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon. UNC goes into this game as a double-digit favorite and hopes another win will move them up in the College Football Playoffs.

With two regular-season games remaining, UNC is hoping to finish strong ahead of the showdown with Clemson in the Atlantic Coast Conference title game in a couple of weeks. But they fail to foresee the risk of surprise by the Yellow Vests.

North Carolina lost to Georgia Tech in Atlanta last year in what was a miserable game for UNC. However, this one is at home and in front of another sold-out audience. Also, UNC is a much better team.

As always, moving on to our staff picks for this week 12 matchup.

Zack Pearson

Prediction: UNC 45, Georgia Tech 27

Season record: 8-2

The Tar Heels go into play as a 21-point home favorite. This is a game UNC should win and it should be another big day for Heisman nominee Drake Maye.

Even with a defense that’s struggling, I think UNC will run away with this one early and stay ahead and get another win.

Richard Adkins

Prediction: UNC 41, Georgia Tech 32

Season record: 9-1

The North Carolina Tar Heels are the superior team going into this duel with Georgia Tech. However, the expected blowout result should be questioned as a trap is written in this game. UNC
is enjoying a six-game winning streak, and Georgia Tech has suffered a 35-14 home loss to Miami. Despite the different dynamics, the Yellow Jackets are releasing a new quarterback this weekend
This unknown factor has haunted North Carolina in games like this. Against Florida A&M, a major reason for the fights is the lack of available volume. North Carolina needs to figure out Georgia Tech early and keep the pressure on.

Alec Lasley

Prediction: UNC 38, Georgia Tech 23

Season record: 9-1

How will UNC react today after winning the ACC Coastal last week? Georgia Tech has some question marks at the quarterback, starting a new QB today and will be a variable the Tar Heels will need to figure out early. North Carolina is clearly the superior team but needs to make sure they are mentally ready for this one. Will there be disappointment? In other years maybe. But I think Mack Brown has this team ready to go. Tar heels should continue their triumphal march.
