Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Indiana Pacers Live Score and Stats – November 23, 2022 Gametracker

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) Karl-Anthony Towns had 23 points — nine of them in a row in an important run in the third quarter — and the Minnesota Timberwolves defeated the Indiana Pacers 115-101 on Wednesday night.

Minnesota have won five straight games, four of them away, to improve to 10-8. Indiana had a five-game winning streak that fell to 10-7.

“I just thought it was important to step on the gas,” Towns said of the third quarter. “They came out of the third quarter with a bit of fire, so I wanted to do what I could do to erase that, or at least make up for it.”

The Pacers closed out a two-point deficit in the third quarter as Towns had the nine-point run as part of a 13-point quarter that left the Timberwolves leading 87-77. The Pacers were never within six points after that. Towns also had 11 rebounds and eight assists.

“This team played amazingly well and we came in with a lot of respect but not intimidation,” Towns said. “If they wanted to beat us, we felt that if we do our best, they have to beat us.”

All five starters of the Timberwolves scored double digits. Rudy Gobert had 21 points and 16 rebounds, Anthony Edwards had 19 points, Jaden McDaniel had 18, and D’Angelo Russell had 15 points and 11 assists.

“It was fun, every night we try to set the tone,” Gobert said of the inside game. “I thought Karl did a great job and I tried to be more aggressive.”

The Timberwolves shot 60.3 percent (47 of 78) compared to the Pacers’ 38.5 percent (37 of 96).

“I’ve just told the lads it was hands down the best performance of our season,” said Timberwolves manager Chris Finch.

Myles Turner led the Pacers with 31 points, including seven 3s. Sixth man Bennedict Mathurin scored 16 of his 21 goals in the first half.

“We have to defend better and be better on offense, on both sides of the ball,” said Pacers coach Rick Carlisle.

The Pacers’ top scorer of the season, Tyrese Haliburton, with 20.4 points per game, had a bad night with 10 points on 4-of-15 shooting. He had 12 assists.

“We need to regroup and get ready for Friday,” Carlisle said. “We play against better teams. Minnesota is a playoff team. Portland was a playoff team. We’ll play better on Friday, I’m convinced of that.”

Minnesota, second in the first quarter, scored the first eight points of the game and led early, 27-10. Indiana, the league’s worst goal in the first quarter, trailed 29-21 going into the second quarter went.
