Lockdown Log: Irregardless

I am an ardent logophile. I fed my love for words, with my second major in University: Linguistics. Language, words, are a beautiful thing. I came across the following article recently. It seemed to settle an age old debate I’ve had with my sisters. That is, whether or not “irregardless” is a word. It stemmed from a scrabble battle, I believe.

Language is utilitarian, fluid and constantly evolving. That’s what makes it so beautiful. Baby Sesame started using words quite early in her development. She often attracts surprised glares in public, typically when she sings a song she just made up! This is the hallmark of her success as a young human cub. She is a fascinating little creature!

I’m going into the second month with my newest podcaster. It has been a spectacular journey, and the podcast just keeps on growing! I feel immensely grateful. This is the realisation of a dream. The podcast looks at the impact of the pandemic on the arts in South Africa. I suppose this is why I love language so much. It is a catalyst of change!
