Lockdown Log is excited about the launch of The Other Side of the Sun Podcast’s fourth episode! Titled “Origins Story-Hip Hop”, it’s proving to be quite the crowd puller! It was started by Solarkidd, who has an interesting line up of guests. These include musicians, MC’s, artists and producers. In the first three episodes he focussed on Muso’s with links to South Africa or the continent.
In this latest episode, he chats to a South African MC/producer/poet. He goes by the name Perspektif. Together, they map the history of Hip Hop in South Africa, from its early origins with POC. This brand of Hip Hop spread across South Africa.
And Wesley Pepper’s Art Lexica is continuing to grow! Last week’s episode, released on Wednesday, enjoyed a record number of listens/downloads. Wesley has an exciting line up of artists, including teachers, musicians, visual artists and street artists/activists. He started this podcast to give a voice to artists in South Africa. And he is doing a sterling job!
And then there’s one of my longest running podcasts, the Saint Barnabas United Church Podcast. This podcast features weekly sermons from Reverend Heidi Petersen. An offshoot from this podcast is by Christian missionary, Charmaine Rayment. These are among my most popular podcast offerings.
And I’m always on the lookout for new content generators. It is time for South African’s to curate their own stories. History! Her-story! Our story! Would you like to share your own origins story? If so, drop us a line if you’d like to start your own podcast! Please follow my blog: Lockdown Log.
