WORSHIP IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH PART 1
Let us now look at the Holy Spirit’s role in our worship.
The Holy Spirit was poured out at the Feast of Pentecost / Shavuot and his function is to lead, guide and teach us in all truth.
John 4:23 But an hour is coming – it is here now, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people as His worshipers. 24 God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.
This is probably one of the most misused scriptures in the church today. The scripture says that the true worshipers shall worship in spirit and truth. The fact that the bible refers to true worshipers implies that there are also false worshipers.
So how do we know which is true and which is false worship?
Firstly, the true worshipers will worship in spirit. To worship in spirit means to worship as the Holy Spirit leads. The Holy Spirit brings life and he will also lead us into all truth. John 16:13 But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; but whatever He hears, He will tell you. And He will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify Me, because He will take from what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 Everything that the Father has is Mine. For this reason, I said the Holy Spirit will take from what is Mine and declare it to you.
WORSHIP IN SPIRIT
Eph. 5:18….be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything o God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
THE GOLDEN CANDLESTICK
(YESHUA THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD)
John 8:12 Yeshua spoke to them again, saying “I am the light of the world. The one who follows Me will no longer walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.
The Golden Candlestick also represents the Holy Spirit / Ruach ha-Kodesh who leads and guides us and points us to Yeshua.
John 14:26 But the Helper, the Ruach ha-Kodesh, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of everything that I said to you.
Here in the Table of Showbread and the Golden Candlestick we see an early reference to worship in Spirit and truth.
Is your walk and worship governed by the leading of the Holy Spirit or are you following a set of rules and regulations laid out by tradition? Remember the Holy Spirit brings life to our walk and our worship.
